Abstract

The article discusses how the government of Great Britain has balanced its global interests with those in south-east Asia during the 1950s. It claims that although the needs of the Malayan emergency were prioritized by the British government over the requirements of the Korean war, it has reluctantly provided ground troops to Korea. The article also examines how Great Britain worked for the defence of Hong Kong.
