Abstract

The article offers facts and fiction related to spiders. It states that spiders do not bite humans for feeding and nursery purposes. It considers the ability of an average person to swallow eight spiders in a lifetime as a mythical belief. It mentions that 90 percent of incidents involving the bite of brown recluses spiders can be healed with no severe injury or skin damage despite the danger and that spider bite is rare.
