Abstract
- The article explores what happens to polar bears if pack ice which serves as both their home and hunting ground begins to melt. When pack ice melts earlier, polar bears swim from a chunk of floating ice to another until they made it safely back to shore. However, the author states that it would be impossible for these animals to swim back to the shore if the ice melts on rougher seas and the chunks of ice have greater distances between them.
