Abstract

The article discusses the new food safety initiatives and technology for store brand items. Arthur Rumpf of Specialized Technology Resources Inc. has observed that retailers traditionally depend on auditing, training, qualification and testing programs to achieve the highest levels of food safety. Vieira Traynor believes that retailers must determine the potential safety risks in the supply chain. A discussion on the Global Food Safety Initiative is also given.
