DEMOCRATIZATION OF THE WORK PLACE: A HISTORICAL REVIEW OF STUDIES.

"Industrial Democracy" is an old labor slogan reflecting demands for democratic processes within the firm to parallel the universal suffrage obtained in political life outside the firm. Experiments have been carried out along these lines in Western Europe that go well beyond the more manipulative and/or individualistic "need-satisfaction" approach of the American human relations school.
