Abstract
- The article examines the Competition Bill introduced to the Legislative Council in Hong Kong on July 2, 2010 and its impact on international franchising agreements in the city. It reports that the bill adopts a judicial enforcement model, under which an independent statutory Competition Commission and Competition Tribunal are to be established to investigate suspected anti-competitive conduct and to bring proceedings to the Tribunal. The bill's background, its overriding principles, and the exception to the general prohibition are discussed.
