Abstract

The article features Chisso Corp., the chemical company which is said to be responsible for the Minamata disease in Japan in 1977. It notes that the company is negotiating the sale and lease-back of the Minamata works to avoid being delisted by the Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE). Moreover, the company has paid 100 million dollars to more than 1,000 certified Minamata victims in which the money has come out from the sale of property and securities and operating revenues.
