Abstract
- The article reports on the trend among companies in the U.S. to convert short-term liabilities into long-term debt. It mentions that petroleum firm Sun Oil Co. joins the trend as it plans to sell 150 million U.S. dollars of 30-year bonds and 50 million U.S. dollars of six-year notes, proceeds of which will be directed to the partial repayment of a short-term debt. It notes that the conversion serves as a response to the long lines in the corporate bond market and slack in long-term rates.
