Abstract

This section presents abstracts of research papers on economics which were published as of June 1967. Salary Indices for School Teachers analyses changes in the salaries of teachers employed in maintained primary and secondary schools in England and Wales during recent years. Adaptation of Cooperatives to Economic Changes: The Israeli Experience analyses the basic features of the Israeli cooperative movement in its various stages of development, from the early nineteen twenties when Palestine was a backward British Mandate territory, with a Jewish population of about 100,000, to our days. The Decision Process and Entrepreneurial Returns shows that a consistent profits pattern arises over time. Profits play the same role in an economy marked by distance as do rents in the classical conception. Ownership and the Production Function advances the thesis that the phenomenon of ownership in economic systems can best be understood in terms of strategic control over goods and processes. Quantification of Road User Savings deals with one aspect of the economic evaluation of investments in road improvements. This is an attempt to arrive at a generally acceptable, more homogeneous approach to the problem of calculating the vehicle operating savings.
