Abstract

The article examines the benefits and problems of community antenna television (CATV) based on the results from the product testing in Manhattan, New York. According to its proponents, CATV offers limitless potentials for communications since it includes free and pay TV, two-way telephone TV, and electronic grocery shopping. The problems brought by the resistance of the Federal Communications Commission, the difficulty in cable installation, and the licenses of CATV operators are also discussed.
