Abstract

The article focuses on the increased advertising in newspapers and the paper mills' productivity to meet paper demands in 1956. It says that the U.S. Commerce Department estimates that, with some future capacity to be added, newspaper supply for 1956 may just roughly enough to meet the demand. A cross-country sampling of situation of newspapers by "Business Week" reporters suggests that publishers were worried, but not panicked and that all the newspapers said they were not down to rock-bottom.
