Abstract
- The article reports on the resistance of U.S. West Coast paper mills to the granting of large wage increases to the striking members of the Association of Western Pulp & Paper Workers (AWPPW) in 1978. Companies reportedly cite their high industrial costs and their giving of 29 percent in wage and fringe increases over two years. It is stated that Crown Zellerbach Corp. already provides an hourly wage of 8.37 dollars and will not agree to the union demand of a minimum three-year contract.
