Abstract

The article offers information on field studies indicating that trap counts for olive fruit fly adults in pesticide-free sites decrease in mid and late summer and then increase from September to November in California's Central Valley. It states that a portion of the decline is linked with heat stress that the flies experience during mid and late summer. Furthermore, the adult flies will die in a few days of having no adequate amounts of water and carbohydrates.
