The article reports that the U.S. Congress is revising the copyright law, with the help of the U.S. Copyright Office, that passed a bill for extending the copyrights to 50 years beyond their death. It states that it lays down the rules for applying the doctrine of fair use, for how much and under what circumstances the copyrighted material can be used. It mentions that the Congress has granted 2 short-term extensions, including passing the work of some famous authors and composers to the domain.
