Man Behind the Soviet Challenge.

The article discusses the study conducted by Nicholas DeWitt of the National Science Foundation (NSF) which examines the quality of engineering education and training in Russia and the U.S. DeWitt compares the comprehensiveness and specialization of the programs of both countries. Moreover, the study reveals that in contrast to the American scheme, Russian education system is designed to develop specialists in the narrow fields of science at the student's earlier years.
