Abstract

The article offers an outlook on global politics and business as of December 1945. U.S. Secretary James Byrnes plans to persuade Russia to participate in the first United Nations Organization meeting to be held in London, England in January 1946. Byrnes needs to show the Russians that the U.S. has started recognizing some of Russia's reasons for rejecting the U.S.-British role in the postwar world. Russia meanwhile is strengthening its influence on Eastern European nations.
