Abstract

Let us take a look at how the classroom study of the topic "Mendeleev's Periodic Law and Periodic System; the Structure of Matter" is organized. Our approach to the topic is twofold, with emphasis placed on the historical method, and on the problematic nature of enquiry, (1) The historical approach is usually limited to an account of how Mendeleev discovered the periodic law. In the course of our practical teaching efforts we decided to place more emphasis on the historical method in studying this topic. This, in turn, brought the problematic nature of enquiry into greater relief in our presentation of the topic. Let us be more specific. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
