Abstract

The article presents a study which examines the rock slope instability using spatially distributed structural orientation data in Darjeeling, India. It discusses a geographic information system (GIS)-based methodology for rock slope instability assessment based on geometrical relationships between rock's topographic slopes and structural discontinuities. It reports that the stress-induced rock slope instability tends to increase with increasing level of water saturation in unstabled rock slopes.
