Abstract

The article discusses the latest developments in the U.S. wine industry as of May 7, 1949. It claims that the higher growth in wine production in the country over wine consumption has resulted in high wine inventories and lower prices. It examines the wine marketing order that is planned by the California Department of Agriculture that is intended to protect wine prices. If approved by the wine industry players, the order will be implemented in the 1949 grape crushing season, which starts in August.
