Abstract

The article reports on the U.S. regional economic situation in November 1949 which was influenced by the just ended steel strike, especially in the Cleveland region which registered the largest income increase. There was reportedly no income trend pattern in the other 11 regions, which showed increases in Boston and Kansas and declines in New York and St. Louis. It is stated that a general income rise in December is seen due to active department-store sales, particularly in the retail of television receivers.
