Abstract
- The article assesses the nature of the upturn in business in July 1949. Expectations for year end are presented including new tests to weather and compensating factors. Evidence of business momentum are provided in steel production, electric power output, carloadings, paper and paperboard production, textile activity and the booming trades. The significance of inventory readjustments is discussed in relation to actual movements of various business indicators.
