Have Paper's Profits Hit Peak?

The article examines whether the increase in profits of the U.S. paper and paper-products industry has reached its peak as of March 1948. Paper production surged to 21 million tons in 1947, which was higher by 9% compared with 1946. It is noted that high wage and raw material costs have been more than offset by increased prices, continued capacity operations and low or no reconversion expense.
