Abstract

The article discusses the views of analyst Sumner H. Slichter on various important issues related to the labor sector, who occupies the prestigious Lamont chair at Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, in May 1954. Slichter believes that collective bargaining will be hard on small and medium-sized companies that cannot conduct industrial research to reduce its labor costs. Slichter adds that the union demands for employer-financed systems will be pressed hard unless the unemployment insurance is significantly liberalized in the near future.
