Abstract
- The article focuses on the postwar investment of the U.S. industry in Japan. A total of 216 contracts have been concluded by 130 U.S. companies in Japan as of November 1953. Japan is facing increasing competition in the world market and potential customers are no longer interested in its cheap consumer goods. Japan is being pressured to make the necessary technological changes. Radio Corp. of America is helping Japan Electric Co. with vacuum tube production and Japanese textile companies are using the Sanforizing process of Cluett, Peabody & Co.
