Abstract
- The article reports on the efforts to reduce the costs of modern fighter planes in the U.S. in March 1954. It says that several major aircraft firms are considering the redesign of some engine and airframe components to use castings of steel alloys, magnesium and aluminum. According to the author, the U.S. government is ready to allot 700,000 U.S. dollars for research and development to lower the costs of manufacturing modern fighter planes. The reasons behind the increasing cost of modern fighter planes are also discussed.
