Abstract

The article reports on the survey by A. C. Nielsen Co. which reveals that sales of grocery and county general stores in the gas-station area have increased by nine to 12% between February and May 1942 in the U.S. It mentions the contribution of tire and gas rationing in aiding the financial condition of small country grocers while hurting the sales of larger stores. It also cites several factors of the said trend including price, sufficiency of stocks and prosperity of the area.
