Abstract

The article examines the condition of the advertising industry in the U.S. in 1943. It states that radio networks and business papers reported gains in the said year, but total newspaper linage and total magazine and farm paper revenue dropped 5.4% and two percent, respectively. It notes that in Great Britain, the government has become the leading advertiser when newspaper advertising has dropped 40%, but in the U.S., the government allows manufacturers and retailers promote war bonds.
