Abstract

Health organisations are being challenged to change rapidly in response to a variety of competing demands. There is a temptation to look for externally promoted solutions rather than making better use of existing organisational talent. Evidence from the fields of knowledge transfer and diffusion of innovation suggest that it takes a range of purposeful actions to successfully innovate, including supportive management. This paper describes the development and subsequent use of a knowledge transfer framework which can help in a sense-making process to enable decision makers take a systems approach to innovation development and adoption.
