Abstract
- The article reports on the impact of the orders issued by the War Production Board (WPB) which aim at eliminating the use of tin in packaging on the packaging industry in the U.S. It notes that the WPB's orders affect many packages including plastic wraps, cellophane and metal foils, and cause many manufacturers to seek for a substitute material for tin to continue the production of their products. Among the tin substitutes used by these manufacturers are polystyrene, paper and glass.
