Abstract

The article reports on the recommendation of Senator John Bankhead and Representative Henry B. Steagall to the Commodity Credit Corp. (CCC) regarding the termination of importing businesses in the U.S. According to them, the continuous adoption of foreign buying could lead to postwar surpluses which could further result to big business losses. It highlights some ways to resolve the problem, particularly the relocation of CCC's international purchase activities to the Office of Economic Warfare.
