Abstract

The article focuses on the rise in the premium of automobile insurance in the U.S. Higher cost of settling claims and increase in accidents led to rise in premium. With effective from July 1, 1946, Robert F. Dineen, New York Superintendent of Insurance accepted a new schedule filed by automobile liability underwriters calling for a 10% increase in bodily injury and 25% in property damage rates.
