Abstract

The article features U.S. Under Secretary of Treasury for Monetary Affairs Julian Braden Baird and his responsibilities. He is reportedly responsible for managing the debt of the U.S. amounting to 289 billion U.S. dollars as of May 1960. Baird accepted the job after it had been rejected by some prominent bankers. With the support of Treasury Secretary Robert B. Anderson, Baird implemented changes that kept his staff and the investment community.
