Abstract

The article discusses the debate on the fundamentals of the economic aims and procedures of Communist China in relation to the dismissal of Peking University president Ma Yin'ch'u. The downfall of Ma and the cities' communal regimentation indicate that Chinese Communist Party chairman Liu Shao-ch'i has won over Prime Minister Chou En-lai. Ma has been playing the role of Chinese intellectuals in challenging the concepts of China's policies. Ma has attacked the public works projects which disregard consumer interests.
