Abstract

The article reports on economists and statisticians' view that the U.S. economy will make only slow progress without a tax cut. At the 1962 annual meeting of the American Statistical Association, economists and statisticians predicted that the economy will not experience a recession in 1962 and it is due for a mild one in 1963. They also believe that in order to get the economy moving again, the administration of President John F. Kennedy should come through with its promised substantial across-the-board tax cut.
