Abstract

The article examines efforts by Communist China to achieve scientific progress. Factors that have affected China's scientific progress include shortages in trained researchers and adequate laboratories and the Communist Party's strict supervision of intellectuals. The scientific achievements of China include building a nuclear reactor for Nankai University in Tientsin, a cyclotron at Szechwan University in Chengtu and two proton electrostatic accelerators in Peking.
