Abstract

The article reports on the optimism of the world's top automobile producers on the Australian automobile industry despite a drop in sales and layoffs as of October 1966. The industry's annual output is worth roughly 900-million U.S. dollars and capacity surpasses 400,000 vehicles a year. An extension of deadlines on the local-content law has been sought by Chrysler Corp., Volkswagen, and British Motor Corp., Ltd.
