Abstract

The article examines the possible outcome of efforts by the Conservative government of Great Britain to put the Tories in position to win the election in Fall 1964 and to sustain the expansion of the economy at an average of 4% per year. Public opinion polls have shown that voter sentiment has shifted in favor of the Tories. Factors behind the 4% to 5% increase in Britain's gross national product in the first half of the year include a high level of inventory accumulation and increases in private capital spending.
