Abstract

The article focuses on a study released by U.S. Federal Trade Commission chief economist Willard F. Mueller concerning the impact of the antimerger policy on business. According to Mueller, amendments led to the creation to a sounder market structure and that enforcement has been successful in the producer goods industries. He said that powerful proconcentration forces are at work in distribution and advertising. He also believed that conglomerates have raised barriers that affect competition.
