Abstract

The article attributes the success of CBS-Television network as the biggest supplier of mass audiences to U.S. marketers to its president, James T. Aubrey Jr. The programming policy of Aubrey is considered the center on which CBS operates. His ground rules for programming requires a star, a workable format and creative control of the program, while the quality of programming boils down to a conflict between emotion and reason. CBS observes balance with its programming ensuring that it has comedies, dramas, variety shows and adventures.
