Abstract

The article discusses results of a survey conducted by the McGraw-Hill Economics Department which showed a bullish forecasts that pose a serious problem to economic policymakers. According to the survey, business predicts a 6 percent increase in corporate earnings in 1970, to a total of 95.2 billion U.S. dollars. However, Douglas Greenwald, a McGraw-Hill economist, prefers the previous forecast of a 6 percent decline in corporate profits. About 50 percent of all companies surveyed expect profit margins to widen in 1970.
