Abstract
- The article highlights the demand of workers' union United Steelworkers of Canada for higher base pay, which was announced by United Steelworkers Local 6500 president Homer Seguin. Biggest Canadian nickel producer Inco is facing the expiry of the contracts of its 35,000 workers in July 1969 and according to Seguin, the reason they are asking for wage hikes is based on the fact that the nickel producer is able to give it to them so that they troubles with cost of living would be eased. The union is also campaigning for a five-week sabbaticals for workers.
