Abstract

The article reports that the Kansas Credit Union League bought the State Bank of Lancaster in an effort to enter the credit card business. The credit unions acquired the bank through a holding company held by 30 credit unions in Kansas. The statements by M.R. Hellie as president of the Credit Union National Association on the bank purchase and the impact of the acquisition on the credit union sector and on the finances of the Lancaster bank are discussed.
