The article focuses on the findings of a survey done by the U.S. Bureau of Foreign & Domestic Commerce which showed that down payments got higher while terms were shortened as a result of a campaign to set standard installment contracts in 1938. It says that the South Altantic and Pacific areas showed to have the most liberal terms. Also provided are the percentages of down payment and terms in various items between December 1936 and December 1937 such as used automobiles, appliances and men's clothing.
