Determining optimum operating characteristics for a continuous processing machine centre.

The purpose of this paper is to illustrate an approach to determining a minimum cost operating regimen for a continuous processing machine centre. A variational analysis is employed to determine an optimal processing trajectory, and from this an approach to establishing an upperbound on the theoretical number of machines employed in processing can be established.
