Abstract

It is shown that, above some critical value of Sommerfeld number, a condition of hydrodynamic lubrication may exist. An elementary theory is developed which is consistent with experimental results, the viscosity of typical lubricants and the pressure dependence of viscosity of the lubricant. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
