ON THE OPTIMUM SIZE OF WORKFORCE ENGAGED IN THE SERVICING OF AUTOMATIC MACHINES.

The problem of determining the optimum size of a repair or servicing crew for a given number of automatic machines is examined. Charts are presented which are applicable to the Poisson arrival--exponential service time model and provide a ready means of solution to the problem in this case.
