Abstract

The article reports on the performance of the financial markets in the U.S. as of January 1933. It says that London, England, and Paris, France have started their sale of U.S. dollar balances as the U.S. dollar fell in terms of pound sterling and francs. The author adds that the New York Clearing House announced a record low for interest rates on time deposits to be paid by the member banks. Updates on the U.S. stock market and the receding performance of the bond market after rising sharply in the first three weeks of the month are also discussed.
