Abstract
- The article discusses the case of Scottish physician Michael Munro, who was summoned in 2007 to appear before the General Medical Council (GMC) Fitness to Practise (FTP) Panel on allegations that he hastened the death of two premature and terminally ill newborn infants while working at Aberdeen Maternity Hospital in Scotland. He administered the drug pancuronium to relieve the agonal gasping of the babies, which led to the hastening of their deaths. His act was described as tantamount to euthanasia and no action was taken against him by the GMC.
