Abstract
- The article looks at the legal status of marijuana in the U.S., focusing on efforts to legalize the substance. Medical marijuana clinics and the medical benefits of marijuana use are discussed. The author comments on the public opinion of making marijuana accessible to patients seeking relief of pain from medical conditions such as cancer, multiple sclerosis, or Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDs). It is noted that 13 states have established medical marijuana programs. Information is presented on states which have decriminalized marijuana, including Colorado, California, and Massachusetts.
