Abstract
- The article focuses on a public debate between lawyer Clarence Darrow and Judge A. J. Tallen on the issue of capital punishment conducted in the Manhattan Opera House in New York City. Opposing capital punishment, Darrow claims that poor people awaiting death cannot get lawyers to look after them because such lawyers are too busy looking after the riches of big corporations. Talley, who supports death penalty, claims there would be no possible hindrance to killing when the death penalty was eradicated, since criminals are unafraid of a jail's conditions.
